Who is responsible for your data

The controller of the personal data described below is Talk2Camera.

The short version

Talk2Camera works without an account. Recording, the teleprompter, editing and export all run on your phone, and nothing about them reaches us. An account is only needed for the optional cloud features, and everything below describes what happens once you choose to use one.

We do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and the apps contain no analytics or tracking software of any kind — not ours and not anybody else’s.

What stays on your device

Your recordings. A take is written to app storage on your phone and stays there until you export, share or delete it. Trimming and exporting write a new file and never alter the original.

Your speech. Voice following and caption timing use speech recognition that runs on the device. The audio is read, matched against your script, and discarded. Raw audio is never uploaded, with or without an account.

Delivery analysis. Pace, filler words, eye contact and vocal level are measured by decoding the saved take on your phone. Frames and audio are read, measured and discarded; only the resulting numbers can ever leave the device, and only if you ask for cloud coaching.

What we collect when you have an account

Your email address, so the account can exist and you can sign in and recover it.

Your scripts, if you turn on cloud sync. They are stored so they can appear on your other devices.

A record of your subscription tier and when it expires, so the app knows what you are entitled to.

A count of AI requests and tokens you have used, so the daily allowance can be enforced. This is a count, not a copy of what you asked for.

A security log of events such as sign-ins, password changes and billing notifications, with your IP address stored only as a one-way hash. This exists to detect account takeover and is not used for anything else.

What we never collect

Raw audio or video, unless you explicitly upload a take. There is no background upload and no silent sync of media.

Advertising identifiers, device fingerprints, contacts, location or your activity in other apps and websites. The apps carry no third-party SDKs, so there is nothing in them capable of collecting these.

Why we are allowed to hold it

Under UK and EU data protection law, the account data above is processed because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for — a contract between you and us. The security log is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping accounts from being stolen.

Where we ask for consent, such as sending a script to an AI model, you give it by using that feature, and you can stop at any time by not using it.

Who else sees it

Apple and Google process subscription payments made inside the apps, and receive whatever their payment systems require. We never see your card details.

Paddle acts as the merchant of record for subscriptions bought on this website, which means Paddle is the seller and handles payment and tax. We receive confirmation that a subscription exists, not your payment details.

An AI provider processes the text of a script when you use an AI feature. It is sent for the purpose of answering that one request.

That is the entire list. We do not share data with anyone else, and we do not sell it to anyone at all.

Where your data goes, and how it is protected when it leaves

Two of the processors above are outside the UK and the European Economic Area, and Article 13 requires us to say so rather than let you assume otherwise.

When you use an AI feature, the text of that script is sent to Anthropic, in the United States, to answer that one request. Password reset emails are delivered by Resend, whose sending infrastructure is Amazon Web Services; we have configured the European region, but Amazon is a United States company and access from the United States cannot be ruled out.

Both transfers rely on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, which bind the recipient to European-standard protection and give you rights you can enforce.

Everything else — your account, your scripts, your subscription record — is stored on servers in Germany and does not leave the European Economic Area.

How long we keep it

Account data is kept while the account exists. When you delete your account, the account row and everything linked to it are hard-deleted immediately, and any stored files are purged within thirty days.

The security log is kept for as long as it is useful for detecting account compromise, and is written with hashed IP addresses so it cannot be used to track you.

Your rights, and how to use them

You can export everything we hold about you as a machine-readable file, from the account area of this website or from within the app.

You can delete your account outright, from Settings in either app or from the account area here. It is immediate and cannot be undone.

You also have the right to correct inaccurate data, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription

If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, that subscription is billed by Apple or Google and only they can cancel it. Deleting your Talk2Camera account does not stop the charge. Cancel in that store’s subscription settings first.

Children

Talk2Camera is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly hold data about them. If you believe a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or why, we will say so in the app and here before it takes effect, rather than quietly editing this page.
