RTMP is the protocol that carries your video from wherever you are to a platform that broadcasts it. YouTube, Twitch, Facebook and Instagram all accept it, and each gives you a server URL and a stream key to point at.
Because it is a standard, an app that speaks RTMP can stream to any of them — or to your own server — without a separate integration for each. Paste the URL and the key and you are live.
